Scottish peatfires burn on Irish Peat
Sunday, August 20 2006

My impression of Scotland was that there is enough peat available to keep the fires in the cottages burning for ages. But it seems that peat cutting isn't the Scots favorite past time anymore. It is a hard job to cut peat but it provides an almost free source of energy. Nowadays most of the peat for sale comes from Ireland according to this article in the Scotsman.
