The Geograph British Isles project aims to collect geographically representative photographs and information for every square kilometre of the UK and Eire, and you can be part of it.
These are the starting lines of text from a very interesting website. The aim is to cover every square kilometer of the British Isles with pictures. So far there are 255,438 images covering 138,848 grid squares. A grid square is about a square mile or kilometre and can include several images. Everyone can participate in this huge project.
What is geographing? According to the website It's a game - how many grid squares will you contribute? It's a geography project for the people. It's a national photography project. It's a good excuse to get out more! It's a free and open online community project for all
Scotland has already a lot of squares filled with pictures but there are a lot of gaps as you can see on the following link and picture on the right: squares in scotland with pictures. If you like to participate you can register at the Geograph British Isles Website and add your contribution.
