The Famous Grouse Experience
Sunday, October 08 2006
Scotland’s most popular distillery visitor centre, The Famous Grouse Experience, has announced a record number of visitors.
During August, 17,000 people passed through its doors, an increase of 12 per cent on the same period last year. This brings the total number of visitors to over 650,000 since it re-opened in 2002 following a £2.5 million revamp.
The Experience, located at Scotland’s oldest working distillery, Glenturret, has won a number of prestigious awards, including a BAFTA for its interactive show, and been awarded five-star accreditation by VisitScotland, all of which has attributed to a steady increase in visitor numbers, both from at home and overseas. The Experience offers three types of tours – ‘The Experience’, ‘The Distillery’ and ‘The Malt Tasting’ - as well as a restaurant and shop.
